Sometimes the simplest recipes are the ones we crave most. A delicious simple chocolate truffle recipe is a great example. People often search for overly complicated recipes in an effort to look impressive or just to make something extra delicious for a loved one. But many times, it’s the simple, no-fuss recipes that can taste the yummiest!
When it comes to straight chocolate, truffles are the yummiest! Many don’t realize that even though truffles feel fancy, they’re one of the simplest, most no-fuss desserts you can make.
I’m very, very excited to bring you this recipe. Especially with Valentine’s Day being tomorrow!
The funny thing about these truffles is that they’re a variation of Brigadeiros (Brazilian Chocolate Truffles) that I shared back in 2014.
I’ve been making this new variation for the last few years. The addition of espresso helps to balance the richness and sweetness while also helping to heighten the chocolate. It’s a small addition that I think makes a huge difference.
Step 1: mix the ingredients
Start this recipe by mixing a can of sweetened condensed milk with chopped dark chocolate, cocoa powder, and espresso powder.
Hopefully, these are all ingredients you have in your kitchen today!
Step 2: melt the chocolate
Take a medium size pot and set it over medium heat. Cook until the chocolate is melted and the mixture begins to pull away from the sides of the pot.
This will take anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes. Make sure you’re consistently stirring to ensure the chocolate does not burn.
Step 3: chill it out
Pull the pot off the stove and mix in the butter and vanilla. Then chill the truffle mix until firm.
You need about an hour or two.
Step 4: roll the truffles
Once your truffle batter is chilled, roll into bite-size balls. From here, roll each ball in either sprinkles or chopped-up chocolate.
Do what you prefer, or maybe do a mix as I did!
Step 5: chill again and serve
I find it best to chill the balls again, then serve. They’ll be less messy this way!
