Following in line with Governor DeSantis’ Safe. Smart. Step-by-Step Plan to re-open Florida, DeSoto County will begin lifting restrictions on County Parks, the Library and other County Buildings.
Starting tomorrow, County Parks will reopen in a limited capacity for passive use only. The parks will open for general use activities including exercising, biking, walking, and/or running. Open fields may be used for activities, as long as groups are 10 people or less. Sports leagues, rentals and camping sites will not be allowed at this time and all other park amenities will remain closed. Park hours have also been adjusted. Parks will close at 7:30 p.m., giving staff extra time to clean and sanitize, as needed.
Here’s the breakdown of what is staying closed at County Parks:
Park attendees must adhere to the CDC social distancing guidelines and gathering of 10 or more will not be permitted.
Starting Monday, May 4, 2020, the County Library and all other County Buildings will reopen to foot traffic. To slow the risk of spreading COVID-19, the following safety measures will be in place at the library:
The Library will also begin offering special morning hours for seniors and other vulnerable members of the public on Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Call ahead curbside pick-up will also be available for those vulnerable populations as well, upon request. The number for the Library is 863-993-4851.
The following safety measures have been taken in all other County Buildings:
Yesterday, the Governor released Executive Order 20-112 that further outlines the State’s Phase 1 Guidelines including responsible individual activity, businesses restricted by previous executive orders, other affected business services and medical procedures.
